A new patent image and trademark registration details have just leaked associated with Hero MotoCorp. The image predicts the two-wheeler to be the elder sibling of the Xoom Scooter from Hero.
The scooter segment in India commands a massive chunk of the two-wheeler market, and now nearly all major OEMs offer a hybrid-design scooter in the 100 to 150 cc segment. Hero’s Xoom scooter has delivered fair numbers in terms of sales, but some of the rivals with larger engine capacities perform much better. Mostly all the scooters in the segment have an engine capacity of 125 cc, and this is where the Hero Xoom lacks. It comes with a mediocre 110-cc engine.
Now reports indicate that a larger sibling of the Xoom is very much in the works, and a few official documents have also leaked in favor of the speculations. Some disguised test prototypes have also been spotted of the upcoming Hero Scooter with larger wheels and body panels in comparison to the Xoom 110.
What to expect
The cutting front profile with split headlamp cluster, sharp alloy wheels, flat and roomy footboard, wide seat, and split grab handles at the back are all visible in the leaked patent design. In order to set the two siblings apart and give the upcoming scooter a more premium appeal, Hero may add more features to the XUDE. The Xtec system, a digital cluster with smartphone connectivity, and other features are anticipated to be included.
Engine
Currently, Hero MotoCorp provides a 125cc engine choice for the Maestro Edge and Destini. The upcoming scooter will probably get the same engine, which generates 10.4 Nm at 5500 RPM and 9 HP at 7000 RPM. However, the exact details of the engine specification are still unknown; nonetheless, we reckon that, going by the sporty looks of the XUDE, Hero may retune the engine to put out even higher output.
Launching and Rivals
Hero is anticipated to unveil the new scooter around the end of this year or the beginning of next. Hero Xude will face competition from bikes like the Honda Grazia, TVS Ntorq, Suzuki Burgman, and Yamaha RayZR 125. In the 125-cc scooter market, Xude ought to be able to compete favorably if it is provided at a reasonable price. Whether it can duplicate the success of its smaller sibling, Xoom, is yet to be determined.
