The South Korean carmaker has released the first images of the Kia EV6 revealing its exterior and interior design details. The model will make its world premiere in March 2021, during a special online event. It’s the first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) from the Korean carmaker. The new EV6 has designed under the brand’s new design philosophy ‘Opposites United’, which is said to take “inspiration from the contrasts found in nature and humanity”. The carmaker says its new design language is based on five key design pillars: ‘Bold for Nature’, ‘Joy for Reason’, ‘Power to Progress’, ‘Technology for Life’, and ‘Tension for Serenity’. The new Kia electric SUV has a distinctive crossover-inspired design and based on the brand’s new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

Upfront, the Kia EV6 carries the signature Tiger nose grille’, sleek DRLs (daytime running lights), headlamps with ‘sequential’ dynamic light patterns, and a low air intake. The side profile looks crossover-inspired with sharp lines, a swept-back windshield, and a character line running along the bottom of the doors curving upwards towards the rear wheel arches. From the rear, the new Kia electric SUV looks quite aerodynamic sporting a sloping rear C-pillar with an integrated black glossy insert, a prominent roof spoiler, and unique tail lamps. The EV6 has been designed by Kia’s three global design studios in Namyang (Korea), Frankfurt (Germany), and Irvine (California, US).

Inside, the EV6 features a high-definition audiovisual and navigation (AVN) screen extending from the steering wheel across to the center of the car. The unit displays an instrument cluster in front of the driver and infotainment and navigation above the center console. Just below the AVN screen, there are passengers control HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) settings by using haptic ‘buttons’. Below this panel, the dashboard slopes away towards the front of the car. It has lightweight and contemporary seats with robust fabrics created using recycled plastics.
