Mahindra’s BE.05 EV testing under full flow: to arrive next year

Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUV BE.05 is expected to break the curtains some time around late 2025. Before that, Mahindra announced plans to launch the XUV.e8 in December 2024.

Mahindra has been testing its upcoming electric SUVs for a while now, and the latest spy shot is reckoned to be of the BE.05 SUV, which is slated to be launched sometime in late 2025. Mahindra has already discussed their primary plan of launching as many as four new electric SUVs in the coming years. The list includes XUV.e8, XUV.e9, BE.05, and BE.07. Alongside these SUVs, Mahindra has also revealed the Thar.e and Global Pick-Up Concepts at an event in Cape Town, South Africa.

The BE.05

We have already seen the near-production prototype of the BE.05 SUV, but Mahindra is still testing it with complete camouflage, and the body still appears to be the temporary pre-production one. However, the overall silhouette of the car appears very similar to the concept car. The spotted test car lacks production-spec features like headlamps, taillights, and the EV charger outlet cap. Other interesting features on this model include flush-fitting door handles, a unique-looking integrated spoiler, A-pillar-mounted ORVMs, rear bumper reflectors, and a panoramic sunroof. C-pillar-mounted rear door handles and a stop lamp in the center of the tailgate will also be available.

Battery and Motor

Mahindra had earlier announced that the BE.05 and BE.07 electric SUVs will come with both rear and front-mounted electric motors sourced from the VW Group. The motors are claimed to produce 286 bhp and 109 bhp, respectively, but it is yet to be seen whether the actual specification will be carried out by the final product.

As far as the battery pack is concerned, Mahindra claimed that these cars will come with a 79 kWh LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery pack; however, this claim is still uncertain.

Launch Time Line

The Mahindra Born Electric SUV series, which includes the BE.05, BE.07, XUV.e8, and XUV.e9 models, is scheduled to launch in the upcoming years, as confirmed by the manufacturer. October 2025 will see the launch of BE.05. The Mahindra XUV.e8 will debut in December 2024, while the Mahindra BE.07 will debut in April 2026. The Mahindra XUV700's ICE will serve as the foundation for the electric SUV. Mahindra XUV.e9, which goes on sale in April 2025, will come next. The XUV.e9 and XUV.e8 will share the same engine and interior.
