Czech automaker, Skoda has released the camouflaged images of the pre-production Fabia hatchback. The new-gen Skoda Fabia is scheduled to make global debut in 2021. It comes with all-new design, better equipped cabin and new set of engines.
Skoda has officially announced that the new Fabia will sit above 4 meters in length. It measures 4,107mm in length, 1,780mm in width and 1,460mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,564mm. The hatchback offers a boot space of 380-litres, which can be extended up to 1,190-litres by folding the second-row of seats.
The new-gen Skoda Fabia will be offered in multiple engine options. The hatchback gets a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that offers two states of tune – 64bhp/95Nm and 70bhp/95Nm. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The hatch gets the turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine in two states of tunes – 94bhp/175Nm and 108bhp/200Nm. The 94bhp unit is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 108bhp unit will be offered with 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG. The performance-oriented model is equipped with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 147bhp and 250Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
The new-gen Skoda Fabia is based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO platform, which also underpins the Skoda Kamiq. This platform also underpins a wide range of Volkswagen cars including the new Polo, Virtus, Nivus coupe-SUV and the T-Cross. In fact, the localised version of this platform, called the MQB AO IN, will be used to develop Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun for India.
The new Skoda Fabia comes with all-new design, featuring a prominent radiator grille and sharper lines. It features all-LED lighting system. The front has slim LED headlights, while the rear gets wraparound LED tail-lamps. It gets steeply angled rear windscreen, sharper lines and sloping roofline.
The hatchback will share most of the interior components with the new VW polo and the Skoda Kamiq. Skoda claims that the new Fabia offers a total of 43 Simply Clever features. The hatchback will offer up to 9 airbags and will have lower drag coefficient (0.28) in its segment. The new-gen Skoda Fabia will get symmetrical instrument panel, a free standing touchscreen display, etc. The virtual cockpit will also make a debut in Skoda Fabia.

The new-gen Skoda Fabia is scheduled to make in the mid-2021. The hatchback will be introduced in the European markets in the end of 2021. The new model won’t go on sale in India anytime soon, as the brand is focusing on SUVs.
