We informed you earlier that the launch of the new gen Mahindra XUV500 has been pushed to September 2021. The exact reason behind the delay is yet to be disclosed; however, a global shortage of semi-conductors are likely the reason behind the delay in launch. It is reported that Mahindra could launch the new Scorpio before the new XUV500.

The new Mahindra Scorpio is reportedly to be launched in June 2021; however, Mahindra is yet to make an official announcement. The new Scorpio has been caught testing multiple times in production avatar. It will be significantly bigger and bolder than the existing model. The SUV will retain the tall and rugged stance with masculine design, big Mahindra grille and long body.

The new Mahindra Scorpio will have six-slat vertically stacked grille, conventional headlamps with LED DRLs, large bumper with massive air dam, long bonnet and raked windscreen. The SUV gets massive wheel arches with plastic protectors for rugged look. At the back, the new Scorpio gets side-opening tail-gate, new bumper, vertically stacked LED tail-lamps, roof-integrated spoiler and extended rear overhangs. The SUV could also get forward-facing third-row of seats.

The new Mahindra Scorpio will also receive a factory-fitted electric sunroof; however, it won’t get panoramic unit. The new model will also come with modern features such as a large touchscreen infotainment system, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel, rear AC vents, reverse camera and many more. It is based on the modified ladder-on-frame chassis, which underpins the new Thar.

The new Scorpio will come with petrol and diesel engine options. It will receive a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is expected to produce around 152bhp. The diesel version will get a 2.2-litre turbo engine with power output close to 158bhp. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV is also likely to get AWD or 4×4 option.
