Skoda Auto Volkswagen India to provide free Covid-19 vaccination to all employees, their Family

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has announced that it will be covering the Covid-19 vaccination cost of all its employees and their dependents. According to the automaker, around 36,000 people will be covered under its voluntary vaccination drive. In line with the ongoing government guidelines, the vaccination drive of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd (SAVWIPL) will cover both shots of the Covid-19 vaccine. The initial beneficiaries will be the employees and their dependents who are 60 years and above, and those between 45 and 59 years with co-morbidities.

"The vaccination drive is part of the voluntary workplace wellness programme and eligible employees/dependants can choose to receive the Covid-19 vaccination from their preferred private hospital, the cost for which will be covered by SAVWIPL," the automaker said. Other than the on-roll employees, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India's vaccination drive will also cover the apprentices. The automaker will also be working with its suppliers to cover the third party workers.

"The safety, health and wellbeing of our employees and their families are of our paramount importance. The commencement of the public vaccination drive is a huge relief and a step towards being able to put the pandemic behind," Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Managing Director Gurpratap Boparai said. "As a responsible organization, SAVWIPL is contributing to the same by covering the cost of vaccination for all employees and their dependents, in line with government guidelines," he added.

Representing the passenger vehicle brands of Volkswagen Group in India, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has been formed following the merger of Volkswagen India, Skoda Auto India and Volkswagen Group Sales India (NSC). Skoda Auto Volkswagen India oversees the Indian operations of five brands -- Skoda Auto, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini.
