Tata Curvv SUV Spied Again, reveals new details

By Adarsh Dutt Upadhyay - 23-10-2023 01:03 PM

We recently confirmed that Tata has unveiled the timeline for the launch of its upcoming SUVs, the Curvv and Sierra, and now the test mule of the Curvv is spotted once again with heavy camoflauge, which indicates that it is nearly production-ready.

The Speid Curvv test mule seems to be in the middle of the testing phase, and its overall body silhouette appears very similar to the concept car that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023.

At the front of the car, the LED daytime running lights seem to carry the same eye-brow-like thin look, below which a cirular headlamp setup is seen with the projector setup. As of now, it is unclear whether the car will get the full-width connected LED light bar or not because the test car had only a little protrusion visible with the illuminated part and the rest was not noticeable.

The concept car was fitted with an unproportionally large set of alloy wheels, but the test car appears to be riding on a completely different set of alloys with a much more busy design. The tire size also looks more proportional to the overall dimensions of the car. The Expo Car had a large rear quarter glass, which seems completely missing from the test mule of the Curvv. This may be due to roof redesigning to increase headroom for rear passengers.

At the rear, an extra-visible exhaust pipe is seen, which seems to be part of camouflage only. The signature full-width connected LED bar is also not visible in the test mule, but it may be under the covers; only a thin rear LED light is seen. Overall, the car still resembles quite a lot with the concept car that was showcased earlier. However, we noticed that it didn't carry any radar sensors at the front; maybe it was not the top-end model.

Engine Options

In the past post, we have already reported that Tata Motors is reading about its news set of turbo petrol motors for the Harrier and Safari SUV, but that engine is still under development and not ready yet, so it may first feature in the upcoming SUV and then only in other cars. The 1.5 TGDi motor may be part of the powertrain, along with a CNG option, and even a complete electric option may also be in the works. Reports also claim that Tata will first bring the EV version itself and then release the ICE versions.

Expected Launch and Rivals

Tata has confirmed that the Curvv will be launched somewhere around late 2024. The Curvv is set to compete with popular midsize SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun upon its launch.
