TVS Motor total sales at 3,22,683 units in March

Chennai-based TVS Motor Company on Thursday reported a 123% increase in total sales at 3,22,683 units in March. The company had sold 1,44,739 units in the same month last year when sales were impacted by the lockdown due to COVID-19.



Total two-wheelers sales were at 3,07,437 units in the outgoing month, up by 130% compared to March 2020 when it sold 1,33,988 units.



Domestic two-wheeler sales recorded 115% growth at 2,02,155 units last month. Domestic sales stood at 94,103 units in March 2020.
 

Motorcycle sales were up by 136% to 1,57,294 units in March compared to 66,673 units in the corresponding month last year. Scooter sales witnessed the highest growth of 206% in March 2021. The company sold 1,04,513 units last month compared to 34,191 units in March 2020.


In the three-wheeler segment, the automaker posted a growth of 42% with sales of 15,246 units last month. It was at 10,751 units a year ago. Total exports stood at 1,19,422 units in March 2021, as against 50,197 units in the same month last year, registering a growth of 138%. Two-wheeler exports also grew by 164% to 1,05,282 units in March 2021. It was at 39,885 units in March 2020.



An increase in motorcycle sales in key international markets has significantly contributed to this achievement, the company said in a statement. During the fourth quarter of the financial year 2020-21, two-wheeler sales grew by 50% increasing from 5.90 Lakh units registered in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2019-20 to 8.87 Lakh units in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2020-21, the company said in a BSE filing.


Three-wheeler sales of the company registered sales of 0.43 Lakh units in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2019-20 as against 0.41 Lakh units in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2020-21.
