Unofficial bookings are open for the upcoming Tata Harrier and Safari Facelift.

Tata dealers have started taking bookings for the upcoming facelifts of the Harrier and Safari SUVs. The two cars are going to get a mid-life makeover in the coming months.

Tata's famous Harrier and Safari SUV have been on the market since 2019 and 2021, respectively, and now, after having launched the Nexon facelift Tata is all set to launch the facelifted versions of the two SUVs in late October this year. Many spy shots emerged on the internet, revealing the test mules of the SUVs with heavy camouflage, but now media reports suggest that Tata dealers have started taking advance bookings of the two SUVs at their own level. However, there is no official announcement from Tata Motors regarding the opening of bookings. We reckon that in the coming days, official bookings will also start from Tata's end as the launch date approaches.

Dealerships are taking bookings at a token price of Rs 25,000 for Safari and Rs 21,000 for Harrier.

Expected Updates

Exterior Design

Like the Nexon, Tata is going to give its larger siblings a revised front fascia, updated front and rear bumpers, and a set of new head lights. Harrier and Safari may also get the Nexon.ev like a full LED light bar on the hood, although this feature may be limited to the top variants only. Sequential indicators both at the front and at the rear are also expected, with an LED bar at the rear as well. The side profile of the car may be larger and the same with an updated alloy wheel design. The SUVs may get similar design cues from the Curvv concept car, but in a subtle manner.

Interior Design

In the interior, the cars are going to get some major updates, just like the Nexon SUV. New steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, larger infotainment head unit with complete software makeover, full digital instrument cluster, and soft touch dash material Moreover, the cars will be updated with changes in the a/c vents and the central controls to be completely touch-based. Existing customers would like to see if Tata Motors rectifies the intruding portion in the lower part of the dash that rubs against the driver's left knee.

Features

Just like the Nexon, Tata is expected to load these SUVs with features up to the brim. We expect them to include full-working level 2 ADAS this time, unlike the current half-baked ADAS in Safari. Large panaromic sunroof, ventilated seats, leather seats, voice commands, connected car technology, and many more

Engine and gearbox

An existing 2.0-liter diesel engine is expected to be carried forward. It currently produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. It will either be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic transmission that is sourced from Hyundai. Some reports say that this time Tata will also bring an all-new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol motor with Harrier and Safari SUVs. The gasoline engine will definitely help in marking the cars at a lower starting price.

The Competition!

Safari and Harrier face tough competition from a large range of cars, starting from cars like Creta and Seltos to the larger Scorpio and XUV700. Recently, MG Motors has also cut the prices of its Hector and Hector Plus SUVs, which also rival the TATA twins.
