Volkswagen Taigun Production Model Leaked; Debut Tomorrow

The long-awaited Volkswagen Taigun’s production model will make global debut in India tomorrow. It will be the second model to be based on the VW Group’s MQB AO IN platform, which was debuted with the Skoda Kushaq. Ahead of the global reveal, images of the production-ready VW Taigun have been leaked on the Internet.

 

Volkswagen had showcased the Taigun pre-production concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. The production-ready model retains the original design, which is inspired by VW global SUVs including the T-Cross, T-ROC and the Tiguan. The leaked images reveal the top-of-the-line Volkswagen Taigun GT Line variant.

 

 

The Volkswagen Taigun will measure around 4.2 meters in length and will sit on segment-largest 2,651mm wheelbase. The increase in wheelbase will allow Volkswagen engineers to create more space inside the cabin. In terms of styling, the Taigun gets projector headlamp setup which could get full LED illumination. The headlamp will get smoked effect, while LED DRLs are integrated to the lower end of the headlight unit.

 

The VW Taigun gets chrome highlight on the grille and the bumper. The SUV gets 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome door handles, silver roof rails, blacked-out B-pillar, shark fin antenna and TAIGUN lettering the on the tailgate. The SUV gets LED tail-lamps with a connected bar, and LED turn indicators.

 

 

The cabin of the Volkswagen Taigun will share resemblance with the global-spec T-Cross. It will have dual-tone interior scheme with good fit and finish and plastic quality. In terms of features, the SUV will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.1-inch digital instrument console, automatic AC, electric sunroof, leatherette seats, wireless charging system, connected car tech, powered driver’s seat, etc.

 

 

In terms of safety, the SUV could get multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, traction control, reverse parking sensors and camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, seat belt for all seats, etc. Expected to be launched in the mid-2021, the Taigun will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.
