Production of the upcoming 2021 Skoda Octavia has been commenced at the company’s Aurangabad-based facility in Maharashtra. While its launch is scheduled to happen towards the end of this month (April), deliveries will begin by the end of May 2021. It will be the fourth-generation Octavia with improved styling, more features, and a turbo petrol engine. Here, it will continue to lock horns against the Hyundai Elantra that costs between Rs 17.83 lakh – Rs 21.10 lakh. Prices of the new Skoda Octavia 2021 are likely to fall in the range of Rs 18 lakh – Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom).
With the generation change, the new Octavia will drop the 143bhp, 2.0L turbo diesel engine. It will be made available with a 2.0L TSI turbocharged petrol motor paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The same powertrain does duty in the Skoda Superb. Under the Volkswagen Group’s India 2.0 project, the carmaker recently revealed its plan to invest heavily in localizing MQB A0 IN platform and TSI turbo petrol engine. The company will have a petrol-only model lineup in the future.
The 2021 Skoda Octavia has been designed on the modified version of the VW Group’s MQB platform. Compared to the current generation, the new one is 19mm longer and 15mm wider. It has an all-new interior layout with dual-tone theme. The new dashboard with horizontally layered design and new two-spoke steering wheel with knurled scroll wheels further marks distinction to its portfolio.
The sedan gets a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity along with Skoda’s SmartLink+ and connected car technology with eSIM functionality. There is a new 10.25-inch virtual cockpit digital instrument console. For safety provision, the new Skoda Octavia 2021 provides protection of 8 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and traction control.
Design language of the 2021 Skoda Octavia inlines with the new Superb and Scala hatchback. The sedan comes with sharply designed split headlamps, signature grille with chrome surround and LED DRLs, newly-designed 17-inch alloys, new split LED taillamps and a sloping roofline.
