Mahindra has officially announced to launch the new XUV700 SUV in the second quarter of 2021. The new model will come with petrol and diesel engine options along with an optional AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) system. This suggests that the new model will be sold alongside the existing XUV500.

Mahindra is also working on the new generation Scorpio SUV, which is codenamed Z101. The company hasn’t reveal the launch timeline for the new Scorpio; however, the new model could be introduced in the second half of 2021 or early 2022.

It is expected that the new Scorpio will be sold alongside the existing model. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be based on the modified version of the ladder frame chassis, which also underpins the new Thar off-road SUV. The new model has been caught testing several times. It will grow in size, which will allow Mahindra engineers to create more space inside the cabin.

The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will come with all-new design. It could also receive a forward-facing third row seat. The new model will come with a factory-fitted electric sunroof. It will come with several modern day features such as engine start/stop button, keyless entry, a large vertically-stacked touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, cruise control, multi-functional steering wheel, rear AC vents, automatic AC and others.

The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will come with tall and rugged stance with masculine design, big Mahindra grille and long body. The spy images reveal that the new Scorpio will get six-slat vertically stacked grille, flanked by conventional headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, and a larger bumper with massive air-dam. Other styling elements include raked windscreen, side opening tailgate, LED tail-lamps, roof-rails, extended rear overhangs and massive wheel arches with plastic protectors.

The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will share the engine options with the new Thar, but in a different state of tunes. The petrol version will receive the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, which is expected to produce around 152bhp. The oil burner is a new 2.2-litre turbocharged engine, which is likely to offer 158bhp of power. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV will get AWD or 4×4 option.
