2024 Hyundai Tucson Unveiled: See what’s changed

By Team Man And Motor - 21-11-2023 12:41 PM

Hyundai has officially revealed the facelifted version of its popular Tucson SUV for the global market. The global debut showcases both subtle exterior enhancements and a major overhaul of the interior. The facelift version is expected to arrive in India next year.

Exterior Refinements: A Closer Look

The facelifted Tucson boasts a V-shaped grille with refined LED daytime running lights, maintaining its distinctive profile. Subtle tweaks to the air dam and newly designed alloy wheels add a touch of sophistication to the SUV's exterior. The revamped fascia, though similar to its predecessor, features redesigned LED elements and a more mature grille with a larger full-length skid plate. The number of LED stacks in the grille has come down to four on each side, compared to five on each side in the earlier car.

Dimensionally, the Tucson retains its elongated wheelbase, standing at 2,755 mm, making it the longest in its segment in India. The overall length, width, and height measure at 4,630 mm, 1,865 mm, and 1,665 mm, respectively, ensuring a spacious and commanding presence on the road.

Interior Overhaul: Elevated Comfort and Style

Hyundai has invested heavily in transforming the Tucson's interior, presenting a premium design inspired by the Ioniq 5. The dual 12.3-inch horizontal screen dashboard layout is all new, offering a seamless and sophisticated user experience. The dashboard features horizontally flowing lines, creating a dual-tone effect, while the steering is now a new three-spoke unit that misses out on the Hyundai logo and the position of the gear lever is also changed, and it now comes under the steering column.

It is good to see that there are plenty of buttons to control the AC and entertainment system, which are, in my opinion, more user-friendly than touch-based controls.

The SUV continues to feature the best in-segment creature and comfort offerings, where seating comfort takes center stage, with 10-way electrically adjustable driver seats, memory function, and 8-way power-adjustable passenger seats. Ventilated and heated seats, along with voice-activated controls, contribute to an immersive driving experience. Some other notable features include a dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone charging, Alexa and Google Assistant support, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, and connected car features.

Safety and Powertrain: A Comprehensive Package

Hyundai has fortified the Tucson facelift with an array of safety features, including Level Next Safety, encompassing over 45 pieces of safety equipment with advanced Active and Passive ADAS features. Standard safety offerings include six airbags, front and rear parking sensors, hill descent control, and ESC.

While the exterior changes are subtle, the Tucson facelift is expected to retain its current powertrain options. The Nu 2.0L petrol engine offers 156 hp power at 6,200 rpm and 192 Nm, while the diesel 2.0 liter unit produces 184 hp and 416 Nm of peak torque. The petrol motor is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox, while the diesel comes with an 8-speed automatic box.

This comprehensive safety and powertrain package positions the Tucson facelift as a formidable contender in the premium mid-size SUV segment where it rivals the likes of the Jeep Compass, Citroen C5 AirCross, Skoda Kodiaq, and VW Tiguan in India.
