Tata has a handful of new products for the Indian market. The carmaker recently introduced the new Safari SUV, which is essentially the three-row version of the Harrier with slightly different styling and extra features. The next big launch from the home-grown carmaker will be the Tata HBX concept based mini SUV that’s reported to arrive in mid 2021.
The company has also planned to give a generation change to its three popular models, namely, Nexon subcompact SUV, Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan. As of now, there is no official word on the launch timeline of the new-generation Tata Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. Though, the new models are likely to debut at the next year’s Auto Expo and the launch might happen in towards the end of 2022.
All three models are expected to receive comprehensive cosmetic changes and feature upgrades. One of the biggest changes will be made their underpinning. The 2022 Tata Nexon, Tiago and Tigor will ditch their existing architecture for Tata’s new Alfa (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform. It made its debut on the Altroz premium hatchback.
The Alfa platform is compatible to different body styles and electric/hybrid powertrains. The carmaker says that its new platform has been developed to provide maximum boot space, rear legroom and utility space around the driver. The Alfa platform will also be used in the upcoming Tata HBX micro SUV.
Tata might equip the new-generation models with some advanced and segment-first features. All three models will sport the brand’s Impact 2.0 design language and are expected to come with improved styling. Rumour has it that the 2022 Tata Nexon might get a new DCT (dual clutch transmission) gearbox sourced from Punch. The subcompact SUV might also receive a hybrid powertrain.
More details on the upcoming new Tata Nexon, Tiago and TIgor are likely to be revealed in near future. Stay tuned.
