Bird ES1+ Electric Scooter To Cost Around Rs 50,000; Launch Soon

Bird Electric Mobility, a subsidiary of the Bird Group, is planning to launch the ES1+ electric scooter in the country. While its official launch details are yet to be revealed, the e-scooter is reported to see a release by mid 2021. Initially, the Bird ES1+ will be made available in Delhi-NCR, followed by other Tier I and Tier II cities. It will be brought to India via CKD route from China and then assembled at the brand’s Manesar based plant.

 

The new Bird electric scooter made its public debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. It’s estimated to cost around Rs 50,000 (ex-showroom). If launched at this price point, the Bird ES1+ will be among the most affordable electric two-wheelers in the country.

 

 

Recently, Bird Electric signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Australia-based e-mobility brand – VMoto. Under this deal, Bird Mobility will purchase the CUMini electric scooter for testing purpose in ride-sharing project funded by the Indian government. Save for the China, VMoto sells several electric two-wheelers under the SuperSoco brand name across the globe. In coming months, the 2021 Super Soco CUmini electric sctooer will also make its way to India. It has an electric motor (.8bhp) and swappable batteries.

 

The upcoming Bird ES1+ will essentially be the rebadged version of the CUx e-scooter. It features a sharply designed LED headlamp and LED taillamp, a split seat and a LCD instrument cluster. Dimensionally, the new electric scooter from Bird will measure 1782mm in length, 727mm in width and 1087mm in height. It offers a saddle height of 720mm and sits on a 1217mm long wheelbase.

 

 

The scooter’s ground clearance is rated at 140mm and it carries a kerb weight of 62kgs. The ES1+ has been assembled with 12-inch wheels. Braking duties are taken care of by front and rear disc brakes. Its suspension system includes telescopic forks upfront and twin spring shock absorbers at the rear.

 

Powertrain system of the Bird ES1+ electric scooter includes a 3Ah lithium-ion battery and a 1.6kW electric battery. It will promise an electric range of 55km on a full charge. The ES1+ will be capable to attain a top speed of 45kmph.
