The beginning of the Milan Bike Show seems to have been dominated by Indian two-wheeler giants like Hero MotoCorp and Royal Enfield. Hero MotoCorp unveiled as many as six new or updated motorcycles at the EICMA 2023, and here are the two most important ones.
India’s largest two-wheeler maker unveiled its two most talked-about two-wheelers at the EICMA 2023 in Milan, Italy. These newly introduced products are a set to target new customer groups for Hero and are poised for production shortly after the conclusion of their testing phase. The star of the show was Hero's latest offering, the Xoom 160 ADV maxi scooter, accompanied by the Xoom 125R.
Hero Xoom 160
A high-performance scooter from Hero has been speculated about for a long time, and now finally, Hero has unveiled its most powerful 160-cc premium scooter at EICMA.
The Xoom 160 represents a notably elevated level of product quality compared to any previous scooter from Hero. This suggests a potential for export to diverse global markets, including Europe, where Hero has an established presence. This philosophy is evident in the meticulous construction of the machine, with components exhibiting a high standard of craftsmanship and a fit and finish that appear to be among the finest in Hero's product lineup.
The Scooter features twin split LED headlights, a full digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, music and navigation, keyless ignition and a remote seat opening function, and a tall windscreen. The Xoom 160 is not a light scooter and weighs 141 kg. It has 14-inch alloy wheels with regular telescopic twin front suspension and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The tires are a dual-purpose block pattern type.
It is powered by a 156-cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 14 hp at 8,000 rpm and 13.7 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine comes with Hero’s own i3s stop-start technology, while the engine also features a silent starter setup. The braking duties will be performed by disc brakes both at the front and rear, though ABS will be single-channel only.
Termed as the "2W SUV" and the "Off-beat Ride Champion" by Hero, their profound proficiency in rallying and off-road endeavors leads us to speculate that the Xoom 160 will likely excel in rough-road capabilities and rural India, potentially outperforming all other scooters available in India. The core strength of the Xoom 160 lies in its 160-cc engine, which is seamlessly coupled with a CVT transmission.
Xoom 125R
Positioned above the Xoom 110 in the range, the Xoom 125R is driven by an air-cooled, 124.6cc single-cylinder engine, generating 9.5hp and 10.14Nm of torque. While this engine delivers more power, it does have slightly lower torque figures when compared to Hero's other 125cc scooters. Notably, it features a fully digital instrument panel with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Furthermore, it comes equipped with sequential LED indicators, which makes it the most premium scooter in the 125 cc segment.
The Xoom 125R will rival the famous TVS’ Ntorq 125.
