Tata gets an interior blueprint patented: is it Tata Curvv?

By Team ManAndMotor - 07-11-2023 04:14 PM

The testing of the upcoming Tata Curvv is going on in full flow, and recently we got to see the official sketch of the interiors of a car that Tata has patented. Is it the Tata Curvv?

The design blueprint appears to be nearly ready for production and boasts fresh design elements not previously seen in Tata cars. Assuming that it belongs to the upcoming Tata Curvv, let’s see what is new in it.

The most notable feature is the head-up display positioned behind the steering wheel column, which, if included in the production model, would mark a first for Tata Motors. It will position the Curvv right in front of competitors like the Kia Seltos, Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota’s Hyryder, all of which get the head-up display.

In addition to the head-up display, the Tata Curvv's center console stands out with dual layers of controls and switches, one near the front armrest area and another layer below with cupholders and storage. The dashboard features a large tablet-type touchscreen infotainment system, and the seat belts appear to offer a height adjustment feature.

It is very much expected that Tata Motors will introduce many of the latest features in the Curvv to distinguish it from the Nexon and justify its premium pricing. The Curvv will boast a distinctive coupe SUV design, as showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo, and the production version is expected to closely resemble the concept. Other features may include a panoramic sunroof, an electric parking brake, a 360° surround-view camera, smart cruise control, ventilated front seats, and dual-zone climate control. While ADAS is something that we think may be offered as well, but only in the top-end trim.

Like the Nexon, Tata will launch both ICE and BEV versions of the Curvv; however, it remains to be seen which one is launched earlier. As far as IC engine options are concerned, the Curvv may feature a new 1.2-liter TGDi petrol engine and a 1.5-liter turbo diesel engine. Tata’s much-awaited 1.2 TGDi engine will produce 125 PS of power and 225 Nm of torque. While the diesel engine will produce similar power and torque figures as the Nexon SUV.

The expected launch of the Tata Curvv is sometime in the first half of next year.
