Mercedes-Benz India has launched the AMG C43 luxury sedan in India at a price of Rs. 98 lakh (ex-showroom). The C43 has arrived this time in India with a regular four-door sedan shape, unlike the previous car that was sold here only in the coupe design.

Mercedes has launched two new models today, with one being the GLE SUV and the second being the C43 performance sedan. With both of these products included in the Mercedes-Benz AMG India portfolio, the total number of models offered by the luxury car maker now stands at nine.

C43 Exterior Design

The C43 resembles the C-Class in terms of overall looks and silhouette, but what makes it appear different from the latter is the Panamericana grille with vertical slats, which is typical of the AMG philosophy. Previously only available on AMG's 63 series, the grille is now seen on a variety of 43 models. Other changes include adaptive LED headlights with a single DRL, large air intakes with black accents on the front bumper, and gloss-black wing mirrors. There are seven meltallic paint options available, as well as three from Merc's Manufktur customization arm.

In terms of the side profile, the car gets no major changes, but it gets AMG-specific 19-inch alloys. At the rear, the AMG C 43 gets quad tailpipes and a rear bumper with a diffuser for improved aerodynamics.

C43 Interiors and Features

In the interiors too, the car carries a similar appearance to the C-Class sedan with some updated bits in order to meet the AMG specification. It gets an AMG-specific theme for the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the 12-inch head unit, the AMG-specific steering wheel, front sport seats with red stitching, and red seatbelts. Merc's intelligent auto headlights (dubbed Digital Light) and a 710W, 15-speaker Burmester 3D system are among the features listed.

C43 Engine and Transmission

The new AMG C43, unlike its predecessor, is powered by a 2-liter, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 408 PS and 500 Nm. Meanwhile, the previous Mercedes AMG C43 had a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with 390 PS and 520 Nm of torque. So despite its smaller size, the new 2-liter turbocharged petrol engine produces 13 PS more power, thanks to the 48V mild hybrid system.

A 9-speed multi-clutch automatic transmission sends this power to all four wheels. The sedan is claimed to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

The C43 is fitted with 370 mm steel discs with four piston brake calipers at the front and 320 mm steel discs with single piston calipers at the rear for sure footed braking performance.

Some notable ride and handling features include:

- AMG Ride Control steel-spring suspension with the Adaptive Damping Mechanism

- Damping modes: Comfort, Sport, and Sport+

- Rear axle steering (maximum steering angle of 2.5 degrees and up to a speed of 60 kmph)

- 3-stage AMG parameter steering

C43 Pricing and Rivals

The Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC costs Rs 98 lakh, which is significantly more than its main rivals, the BMW M340i (Rs 71.5 lakh) and the Audi S5 Sportback (Rs 75.74 lakh).
