Ford is reportedly readying a major facelift of the EcoSport compact SUV, which is scheduled to be launched in the end of 2021. We believe that the new model could come before Diwali, 2021. The new Ford EcoSport facelift was planned to feature the Mahindra’s new 1.2L mStallion turbocharged petrol engine.

Mahindra and Ford has completely called off their partnership, and Ford won’t source any engine or platform from Mahindra & Mahindra. The new Ford EcoSport facelift will sport the Dragon series engines, which powers the existing model. It will sport the 1.5-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which produces 121bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. The diesel version will continue to offer the 1.5-litre TDI engine that churns out 99bhp of power and 215Nm of torque.

Ford is also readying the next-gen EcoSport compact SUV, which is expected to be introduced in 2022-23. The new model is likely to come in India in 2023. The facelifted model will be introduce to remain relevant in the fastest growing sub-4 meter SUV category.

The new Ford EcoSport facelift will receive significant design changes. It is expected to get all-new front fascia, which will be inspired by Ford’s new larger SUVs. The SUV will have a large radiator grille, a triple LED DRL (Daytime Running Light) setup and sleek headlamp setup. The interior of the new EcoSport will also receive noticeable changes. It could get a larger touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, revised dashboard design and added features.

Ford has also called off the upcoming C-SUV, which was planned under the Ford-Mahindra JV. Media reports suggest that Ford could bring the Territory SUV in India. Adding to it, the US automaker is also exploring the possibility of introducing some of its iconic nameplates to India under 2,500 units rule including the Mustang Mach E.
