Homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is readying multiple new models including the new XUV500, Scorpio and the Bolero Neo for the Indian market. These models are scheduled to be launched before the end of this year. The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 was earlier planned to be introduced in Q2, 2021; however, the launch has now been pushed to second half of 2021.

According to the Team-bhp report, the launch of the new-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been pushed to September 2021. The deliveries for the new model is reportedly to commence from November 2021. This could lead to further delay in launch of the much-awaited new-generation Mahindra Scorpio. The launch of the new Mahindra SUVs could be delayed due to the global shortage of semiconductors.

The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will be based on the new front-wheel-drive monocoque platform. It will come with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. While the former is tuned to produce up to 190bhp of power and over 350Nm of torque, the diesel engine is likely to offer around 180bhp of power. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

The new XUV500 will come equipped with several segment-leading features including the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The driver assistance features will include autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, lane departure warning and park assist, etc. For safety and security, the SUV will get multiple airbags, front and rear parking sensors, 360 degree camera, ESP and a tyre pressure monitor.

The spy images reveal that the new Mahindra XUV500 will receive all-new premium interior, which has twin-screen setup similar to the one we have seen in latest Mercedes models including the EQC. The twin-screen setup comprises of a touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument console. The SUV will have features like dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, keyless entry with push-button start/stop, etc.
