The first official sketches of the upcoming 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift have been released by the carmaker. The brand’s flagship SUV is ready to debut on 13th April 2021. It will be first launched in the European market and its India launch will happen near around this Diwali season. The carmaker says that the updated Kodiaq offers “features aesthetical and technological enhancements”. The sketches reveal that the SUV will carry a more upright, hexagonal Skoda grille featuring double slats.

The newly-designed, slimmer headlamps are combining with the fog lamps. The wider central air intake framed by L-shaped elements and aluminium inserts add more to its new front fascia. The sharply designed taillamps have a more slimmed-down look with the signature crystalline structures and a flatter version of the Skoda C-shape design.

More design and interior details of the 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift will be revealed on its unveiling day. Though, it’s likely to receive a new touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and a panoramic sunroof.

Unlike its predecessor which was available with 2.0L diesel (150bhp/340Nm) engine, the 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift will derive its power from a BS6-compliant 2.0L TSI petrol motor. This four-cylinder unit will promise a peak power of 190bhp at 4,200rpm-6,000rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1,500rpm – 4,200rpm. The SUV will have a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox for performing transmission duties. It will come with the permanent AWD (all-wheel-drive) system.

In other updates, the Czech carmaker will roll out the new-generation Skoda Octavia sedan in the month of April. The new model will slightly bigger than the existing one and come with better styling and a more upmarket interior. While the diesel motor will be discontinued, the sedan will continue to feature the 143bhp, 2.0L TSI turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT gearbox.
