A set of new patent images of the much-anticipated next-gen Renault Duster have leaked online, offering a sneak peek into the SUV's design and features.

Set to be officially unveiled on November 29, 2023, in Portugal, the new Duster promises a fresh underpinning, updated powertrain options, and a design inspired by the Bigster concept. In this blog post, we delve into the leaked patent images to explore the key elements of Renault's latest offering.

Evolutionary Leap in Design:

Renault Duster, known as the creator of the compact SUV segment, is set to make an evolutionary leap in design with the 3rd generation model. Leaked design patents showcase a blend of iconic traits from its predecessors and the Bigster concept, ensuring familiarity and aligning with the robust ethos that has defined the Duster since its inception.

Design Insights

The patent images confirm that the upcoming Duster is based on the Bigster concept but introduces fresh styling cues. While the Bigster is a 4.6-meter-long 3-row SUV, the Duster appears more compact, retaining the iconic silhouette that made it a hit in the compact SUV segment. The SUV boasts a high bonnet line, distinctive Y-shaped headlamps, and a slim grille that integrates seamlessly with the headlamp units. The bumper, reminiscent of a flattened bullbar, features vertically positioned air vents on either side.

The profile showcases squared-off wheel arches with cladding, roof rails, and a tapering rear quarter glass, maintaining a visual link with the original Duster. The blacked-out 'B' and 'C' pillars, along with a blacked-out vertical 'shadow-line' below the mirrors, add a touch of sophistication. The rear is marked by V-shaped tail-lights, a significant rear silver element, and a pronounced split roof spoiler.

Under the hood

The next-gen Duster will be based on the CMF-B platform and is expected to offer a range of petrol engines. Options include a 1.0 litre turbo-petrol unit producing 118 BHP, a 1.2 litre petrol hybrid with 138 BHP, and a powerful 1.3 litre turbo-petrol flex-fuel engine with a peak output of 168 BHP, making it the most potent Duster ever. Renault India is also exploring strong hybrids and plug-in hybrids to enhance efficiency.

Expected Tech and Features

The leaked information suggests that the new Duster will be equipped with advanced technology and safety features. While the detailed feature list is yet to be revealed, the SUV is expected to offer a competitive package, aligning with the growing demands of the midsize SUV segment.

Coming to India

Renault enthusiasts in India can mark 2025 on their calendars, as the next-gen Duster is expected to hit Indian shores as a direct competitor to popular models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and others. The SUV's robust suspension setup, AWD option, and a history of affordability, simplicity, and reliability are sure to resonate with Indian consumers.

As we eagerly await the official unveiling on November 29, 2023, the leaked patent images provide a tantalizing glimpse into what the next-gen Renault Duster has in store for SUV enthusiasts worldwide. With a design that pays homage to its predecessors, advanced powertrain options, and a promise of enhanced features, the Duster is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive midsize SUV segment.
