Nissan India has confirmed that the Made-in-India Magnite compact SUV has obtained 4-star safety rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests. The information comes from the brand’s twitter handle while replying to a query asking whether the ASEAN NCAP rating applicable to the model sold in India as well. The Nissan Magnite is the smallest and most affordable SUV from the Japanese carmaker in the country. Nissan’s Oragdam, Tamil Nadu based plant serves as a production hub for the compact SUV. In ASEAN NCAP, the Magnite scored 39.02 points for the Adult Occupant Protection, 16.31 points for Child Occupant Protection and 15.28 points for Safety Assist category. During side impact test, the compact SUV provided adequate protection to the driver’s chest and front passenger’s chest and lower legs. Its compartment was also rated as stable in the frontal offset test.

In India, the Nissan Magnite has been made available in five trims – XE, XL, XV Premium and XV Premium (O). The carmaker also offers an optional Technology pack on the top three trims that worth Rs 39,000. The compact SUV offers dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), seatbelt reminder for the driver and front passenger and automatic warning hazard on heavy braking as standard safety features. The higher trims have been boast with traction control, brake assist, electronic stability control (ESC), Isofix child seat mounts, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360 degree parking camera and hill start assist.
