In the year 2020 during the AutoExpo the French car maker has confirmed the fact that it has a plan of development of a sub 4m Sedan. Renault India had plans of manufacturing a car in to take onto Tata Tigor, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura. But the plan has been shelved, reason being the loss of interest of people in this segment as everyone out there is looking for a sub 4m SUV. Renault India said that they will be focussing on their current utility vehicles like Duster, Kiger and Triber. And have also confirmed that, a turbo-petrol powertrain will also be arriving by 2022.

The MD and CEO of Renault India, Venkatram Mamillapalle, firmly believes the sedan segment in India is losing its popularity and doesn't warrant the investment for a new model in this body style. Instead, the carmaker will shift its focus to its utility vehicles: the Duster, Triber, and Kiger
