Despite huge competition, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has retained the top spot in March sales. Maruti Suzuki sold 11,274 units in March 2021, which is 104% more compared to the same month last year (5,513 units in March 2020).
These numbers show the popularity of the Brezza compact SUV in India. The SUV is set to receive a new generation model in the second half of 2021. The Vitara Brezza is currently available in a single 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.
The Brezza’s main rival, Hyundai Venue secured second post with 10,722 units sold in March 2021. This is 75% growth compared to the same month last year (6127 units in March 2020). The Hyundai Venue is available in 3 engine options – a 1.2L NA Petrol, a 1.0L Turbo-Petrol & a 1.5L turbo-disesel.
Interestingly, the Tata Nexon secured the third spot by beating the Kia Sonet marginally in March sales 2021. Tata Motors sold 8,683 units of Nexon SUV in March 2021, as against 2,646 units in the same month last year. This is 228% growth. On the other hand, Kia Motors sold 8,498 units of the Sonet compact SUV in March 2021.
