A month after registering its Indian subsidiary under the name Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited, the Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa has announced that the brand will begin a manufacturing unit in a new economic corridor on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

The Model 3 is likely to be the car, expected to be first launched in India by Tesla. Which is likely to be followed by Model Y SUV. Though, none of the official announcements have been made. But Tesla is expected to follow the model it used in China. Tesla will mark their entry with the entry-level electric vehicle Model 3 which will arrive in completely knocked downstate and will be assembled in Indian facility. This will help the brand price the vehicle aggressively in Indian market. In US the vehicle is priced at the range of USD 37990 to USD54990, Roughly around 25-40Lakh.

While rumours of Tesla being in touch with various state entities to discuss showroom spaces for Tesla cars have been around for a while, we will have to wait for official confirmations from the brand to seriously outline a time frame for the roll out of Tesla’s electric cars in India. We will be following this story closely as it unravels and will try to bring you any updates on the subject as soon as we get it!
