As earlier speculated, the Indo-Japanese car maker Maruti Suzuki is planning the 5 door Jimmy SUV for the Indian market. The 5 doors Jimmy is expected to hit the Indian market in mid of 2022. But according to the fresh speculations, the company may introduce a 3 door Jimmy as well, that too in the mid of 2021 as the carmaker has started exports to the Middle East, Latin America, and Afrika from its Gurugram based facility.
It is said that the 5 door version of the SUV will be more comfortable for daily commuting where as the 3 door one, will be a lifestyle product to serve a niche/comfortable segment.

The 3-star safety rated vehicle has body-on-frame construction and comes with Suzuki’s K15B 1.5L petrol engine. It’s the same powertrain that does duty in the Ciaz, Vitara Brezza, XL6 and Ertiga. However, the motor has been slightly detuned for generating power worth 101bhp. The compact off-road SUV can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque convertor automatic transmission. Suzuki’s AllGrip 4X4 drivetrain system with a low range transfer case further enhances its off-road capabilities. In Japan, the SUV is also available with a 660cc turbocharged petrol engine.
