As we reported a couple of weeks ago about the unveiling of the latest generation Suzuki Swift, the car maker has now commenced the testing of the latest model on Indian roads.
Maruti Suzuki India has started testing the recently showcased fourth-generation Swift on Indian soil, and a heavily camouflaged unit of the car has been spotted by a media outlet.
The test car was spotted in the dark, but still, the spy shots clearly depict the overall silhouette of the car. It clearly shows the looks of the newly introduced fourth-generation Swift with a clamshell-like bonnet and updated headlight units. The flat bonnet and revised front fascia with sportier bonnet can be judged well even though the car is fully covered.
The side profile of the car shows that the test model had conventional door handles as opposed to the current generation, which has door handles mounted on the upper portion. The car seems to be riding on a set of newly designed alloy wheels.
At the rear, the test car clearly unveils its new set of LED tail lights.
In an another spy shot the test car misses out on some features that are somehow expected to come with the fourth generation Swift, like an ADAS suit, rear disc brakes, and a 360-degree camera. Although the car appears to be riding on 16-inch alloy wheels.

New Engine?
The fourth generation Swift will reportedly drop the current K12 four-cylinder engine and make way for a new Z-series 3-cylinder engine. It will have the same displacement, though. The exact power and torque output of the engine are yet to be officially disclosed, but we expect it to produce similar output as the K12, although the torque figure may show a bump. The new engine is targeted towards getting better fuel efficiency and better low-end pull as well.
Expected Launch
The new Swift is expected to be launched in the Indian market sometime in the next year, as the spy test car already seems production-ready.
