A near-production model of the Suzuki eVX has been revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show. As we predicted earlier, it will be the company's first major electric product in the global as well as Indian markets.

Suzuki Motors has showcased the eVX concept car once again at the Japan exhibition, which we saw at the Auto Expo 2023 in India. Both the showcased cars appear very similar, and it is expected that the production version of the electric SUV will be very similar to the concept cars. Maruti Suzuki has already announced that it will launch the eVX in India in 2025, while the global markets will get it around midway through the next year. The production is also expected to start sometime around the beginning of next year.

As far as looks are concerned, the front end has a closed grille, Y-shaped LED daytime running lights, and pointed LED headlamps. The skid plate is housed in a noticeable black cladding on the bumper, which also features twin horizontal LED lighting components and a bigger air inlet. The cladding gives the electric SUV a powerful stance by running around the sides to the back and covering the wheel arch cladding. The exterior has a floating profile with an integrated roof spoiler, a slightly sloping roofline, blackened pillars for a two-tone look, and triple LED tail lamp signatures on the back.

That's not to suggest the eVX won't have a contemporary appearance. When compared to Suzuki's current lineup, the company's first all-electric vehicle appears quite futuristic because of its angular surfacing and flush-fitting door handles. A few design changes have been made to the eVX from the initial concept: the headlights have been redesigned, and wing mirrors have replaced cameras.

In the interior, it has a sweeping back dashboard design, a floating center console with a rotary dial, broad bucket seats, a panoramic sunroof, a futuristic two-spoke steering wheel, a landscape-oriented screen serving as infotainment and instrument cluster, and touch-based controls. It also has big vertical AC vents.

It will be offered with a single or two electric motor configuration and run on Toyota's specially designed 27PL skateboard architecture. The car is reportedly claimed to have an official range of 550 km, which will be met by a 60 kWh battery pack. In terms of overall power output, the electric motor will produce something between 140 PS and 160 PS.

The Maruti Suzuki eVX will compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, Kia Seltos EV, and other upcoming vehicles.
