The Japanese auto giant has just revealed the fourth generation of its most popular hatchback, the Swift. It will come to India sometime next year.

Suzuki has revealed the next generation of Swift hatchback at the on-going Tokyo Motor Show 2023. The new Swift doesn't get any major character changes in terms of appearance, and the overall silhouette of the car appears to have evolved and matured rather than a complete makeover. The refreshed Swift gets updated front and rear, with noticeable changes in the cabin as well.

The newly updated Swift gets updated headlamps with chunkier L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The front somehow appears more slim than before, but the front grille sees design changes. It gets a thicker border all around with glossy fittings. The company logo now gets placed at the top of the front portion. The fog lamp design is also updated, and the lower part of the bulb is also refreshed. Notice closely, and you would feel that the hood of the car appears to be a little higher, which is nearly flat all around. At the lowest part, the bumber gets a chrome faux plate.

In the revealed images, one can easily notice the radar setup for ADAS functionality on the front bumper and on the windshield, but it remains to be seen whether any model gets ADAS features in India or not.

Coming to the side profile of the car, it doesn't appear to have changed much, but one major update is noticeable, and that is the door handles. They are no longer placed awkwardly on the upper portion and get standard placement. The side profile still carries the floating character, and the window glass area seems decent enough, with an adequate amount of character lines.

Coming to the rear, it gets an updated rear bumper, which appears to protrude out a little more than the previous car. The tail lamps are also refreshed and now look more elegant, matching the overall feel of the car. The size of the tail lamps seems similar to the existing car.

In the interior department, Swift has been refreshed to match the looks of its elder siblings, and the infotainment unit is now floating. The steering wheel has not changed much, but the overall center console appears to be slightly tilted towards the driver side. AC vents are also updated in terms of both design and placement.

In terms of the powertrain option, not much is expected to change, and the current petrol engine will be continued in our market. However, since the car showcased carries a hybrid emblem, we expect it not to come to India, at least in the initial phase.

One important thing that we are eagerly waiting to know is whether any major structural changes in the car have been made or not, considering the safety aspect and the performance of the car in crash assessments.
