Renault has revealed a new SUV called Kardian. It is part of Renault's ‘New International Gameplan 2027’. The company is targeting to double its net revenue by the year 2027.

The French multinational auto group Renault has revealed its all-new SUV, naming it Kardian. It is based on an all-new platform that is targeted at emerging markets. The first major market that will get the Kardian SUV will be South America, and the car has been developed to meet the specific requirements of that market. Later,  the SUV will be brought to other markets where Renualt currently doesn’t offer any mid-compact SUVs, just like the Kiger, which it sells in India.

Will it come to India?

The Kardian SUV is currently not expected to come to India, but what is expected is that its new CMF platform will be used for upcoming new cars from the Renault group in India. Renault has claimed that they will develop as many as eight models on the new platform for emerging markets, and some will come to India as well. For some newer models, Renault may use India as its base for manufacturing, selling locally, and exporting.

More about the Kardian

The Kardian SUV will come with an all-new 1.0-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder petrol engine that is a downsized version of the company's 1.3-liter unit. It will produce 125 bhp of maximum power and 220 Nm of torque. Gearbox options will include a new 6-speed DCT.

In terms of appearance, the Kardian resembles the design language of the Kiger, but the front facia has been updated with distinctive split heallamps and high-mounted LED DRLs. The two-part grille is also more rugged, with a large Renault logo at the top center.

At the rear, the tail lights are very similar to what we get on the Kiger. The side profile, though, is differentiated by a set of sporty 17-inch alloy wheels. The wheel arches are thick, and they get proper load-carrying roof rails.

Inside the car, the dashboard design looks upmarket with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while the entertainment cluster is also a 7-inch inch unit. The car will get an ADAS safety package.

Renults’s ‘New International Gameplan 2027’

Renault has started a new global initiative called ‘New International Gameplan 2027’ to achieve targeted success in markets outside Europe. The program kicked off with the announcement of two new vehicle platforms that will specifically target emerging markets. The global CEO of Renault, Fabrice Cambolive, stated during the event that the platforms will support eight new models. The final model is expected to arrive no later than 2027 and will all be produced and released outside of Europe.

The French automaker will invest three billion euros over the next four to five years as part of the new program. This is a component of the brand's "Renaulution," which aims to double its net revenue per unit sold outside of Europe from 2019 to 2027. Additionally, it states that one in three Renault vehicles sold outside of Europe will be electric or hybrid. Currently operating in 80 countries, 40% of Renault's sales are derived from outside of Europe.

New Duster

The next-generation Renault Duster will make its international debut on November 29. It is expected to come to India in late 2024 or early 2025.
