While most of the automakers are opting for SUVs over hatchbacks and sedans, Maruti Suzuki is still bet on entry-level hatchbacks. While Maruti Suzuki will launch new generations of the Celerio, Swift and Alto in the next 1 year, Tata Motors will introduce an electric version of the Altroz hatchback. MSIL will also introduce a NEXA only XL5, which is a premium version of the WagonR hatchback.

Brands like Volkswagen, Skoda and Honda are still driving sales from their sedan cars in India. Volkswagen will launch the new Virtus sedan in the first quarter of 2022, while Skoda will launch an all-new notchback to rival Honda City in the end of 2021 or early 2022. Honda is preparing the Amaze facelift, which will come with significant design changes and upgraded interior.

Every automaker in India is working on new SUVs to grab some share in the highly competitive Indian market. Tata Motors will launch a new micro SUV based on the HBX concept in 2021, while Hyundai will launch a 7-seater Alcazar and a new AX1 micro SUV in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
Mahindra will launch the new XUV700 SUV in second quarter of 2021. Adding to it, the company will launch the new Scorpio and the Bolero Neo in the 2021-22. MG Motors will launch a new mid-sized SUV based on the ZS SUV. Rumoured to be called the MG Astor, the new SUV is expected to be launched in the Q3, 2021. Maruti is preparing the new-gen Vitara Brezza for Diwali launch. Adding to it, the brand will introduce a LWB Jimny in 2022. Jeep will launch a new 7-seater SUV, called the Commander to rival the Toyota Fortuner in 2022.
