With great demand of Toyota Rumion, the bookings has been temporarily stopped by Toyota Kirloskar Motor
Toyota has announced that it has temporarily halted bookings for the CNG variants of the Rumion. However, the petrol variants gets continue to be available. Rumion is an ertiga based 7 seater MPV launched by japanese manufacturer Toyota in August.
According to Toyota, Rumion has received an overwhelming response and the greater increase in demand created unexpected delay in delivery especially for the CNG Variants. Toyota also said this decision has been added to avoid inconvenience to customer.
The demand situation is almost similar to ertiga which already gets a sale of 10,000 units per month on an average. For ertiga CNG the waiting periods are of 6-9 months whereas the petrol variants are available within 3-4 months.
The Rumion costs Rs 50,000 to 60,000 more than an equivalent Ertiga, depending on the variant, but comes with a better standard warranty, and combined with Toyota’s badge value, the demand is quite understandable. As people-movers, and especially in the fleet segments, MPVs cover long distances, which explains the higher demand for CNG variants, more so due to the lack of a frugal diesel powertrain.
