The German carmaker has unveiled the new Volkswagen Polo Matte Edition that’s reported to arrive near around 2021 festive season. Once launched, the new special edition of the hatchback will be positioned against the Hyundai i20 Turbo and the upcoming Tata Altroz iTurbo DCT. While its official prices will be announced in the coming weeks, the model is expected to be priced around Rs 20,000 over the standard GT variant that costs Rs 9.93 lakh. If launched at this price point, it will be the most affordable factory-made car with a Matte paint scheme.
The Matte finish on the body panels has been complemented with the contrast glossy black finish on ORVMs, door handles and rear spoiler. The design and styling of the new Volkswagen Polo Matte Edition are exactly similar to the regular model. In fact, its features and powertrain also remain unchanged.
Based on the Polo GT TSI, the special edition features an all-black interior with a simple dashboard layout and fabric upholstery in chequered design. The list of features also includes a touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink, ‘Climatronic’ automatic air-con system, a multi-information display, cruise control, keyless entry, footwell lamps, Bluetooth, AUX-IN and USB connectivity and more.
For the safety provision, the new Volkswagen Polo Matte Edition offers dual front airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, anti-pinch power windows and auto-dimming interior rear view mirror.
As mentioned above, the new Polo Matte Edition uses the same 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine that does the duty to the regular Polo GT. The motor pushes out a peak power of 110bhp and 175Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Similar to the Polo GT TSI, the special Matte edition will be capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 10.79 seconds.
